Made in China Is an interactive video piece that plays with elements of design and video games to manipulate images in realtime, of Chinese products popular in Panama, this piece is inspired by my grandfather who arrived at the port of Colón, Panama, in the 1930s from Guangdong, he fulfill his dream to comeback to China and his home town after 60 years.
“This elements represents a memory on how my Chinese grandfather gift me batteries for my toys and candy’s on Chinese new years, this memory has been is imprinted on me my whole life”
Using different vintage joysticks as brushes and midi controllers , the artist can manipulate in Realtime the speed, movement and behavior of the piece.
Was exhibit in San Antonio Museum of Art in February 2021 and also in the Art Museum of the Americas in Washington DC in October 2021 and in the Museum of Contemporary art Mac Panama.
Inspired by the permanent collection of the AMA | Art Museum of the Americas of the Organization of American States and expanded to include loans from other sources, Cultural Encounters: Art of Asian Diasporas in Latin America & The Caribbean, 1945–Present features approximately 75 important works of art by Latin American and Caribbean artists of Asian heritage.
